Saturday 17 May 2014

This is me infront of my work at the Williamson Art Gallery. My years projects all finished.

Monday 28 April 2014

I did a new profile picture for the gallery exhibition. Since I a grew a goatee I was told i look like a character from a TV show called Breaking Bad. I decided to take a poster of theirs and swap it for me instead.

Saturday 26 April 2014

Here is all four pages of my comic fully complete. I have added the speech bubbles and dialog to them. I personally feel they flow and do have that look I want for my comic. A look that brings each page together through style colour and to be honest the characters looks like who they are from page to page.

Friday 25 April 2014

The third and forth page with there highlight layers added. I really like page three.

Thursday 24 April 2014

highlights for page one and two. I have used colour to add the highlights instead of a light grey tone. I used black to do the shadows so I thought that a colour highlight would add contrast and depth. I personal feel it has defiantly paid off.

Sunday 20 April 2014

The last page is now shaded. Now they are all finished I can move on to the final colouring stage, highlight or lighting.

Saturday 19 April 2014

Here is my finished image. I have taken my time trying to keep the vibrancy of the piece.I wanted to grab peoples attention and also make them look. The piece has plenty to look at and your eye is lead around the image by the directions i have placed in my markings. I am very happy with this illustration.

Friday 18 April 2014

The third page now has its shade layer. Doing each page stage by stage has helped me keep an over all style that correlates through out. its staring to have that dark dank look I want.

Thursday 17 April 2014

My second page is now shaded. I have tried to get the muscle features on my villain to stand out, so the reader can tell he's not just big but also toned and defined.

Tuesday 15 April 2014

This is the first page with the shade layer added. I have tried not to do to much, just enough to make the forms a little more three dimensional.

Sunday 13 April 2014

The illustration now has its base layer of colour. I've tried to make It vibrant and bright, also stick to only a few colours and the varied tones that lie between them.

Saturday 12 April 2014

The ink has been added over the sketch. I have also included the sketch layer again but highlighted blue. It's just an example of how I ink over an image, a very common and helpful practice.

Thursday 10 April 2014

I have added the first layer of colour to all four of my pages. I think the comic is starting to have its own style and feel to eat.

Wednesday 9 April 2014

The sketch for a competition called being human. The idea is to create and illustration that depicts the meaning 'being human' in anyway. I have gone with the idea of two sides to everything. good, bad, war, peace, rich, poor, death and life. Theres actually a lot more in the image, but I want people to look and figure it out. It has been sketched using pencil tool in Manga Studio. Feels a lot more natural than Photoshop.

Wednesday 26 March 2014

Friday 21 March 2014

The third page inked. I feel I am starting to really grasp the technique. I think the finishing look for her costume is forming.

Monday 17 March 2014

This is my Second page inked. I have added the missing panels fromthe sketch and added detail in the form of backgrounds and inked shadow.

Saturday 15 March 2014

This is the first page I have inked ready for colour. I have also changed the page by adding a panel to the second row to keep in that running theme I wanted.

Wednesday 12 March 2014

This is the sketch for my last page. I have found a pattern I would like to do through out my comic. Each page will always have at least one row with three panels and one panel that is not bound by a box/boarder. I will break away from it from time to time but it will give my comic a solid look that the viewer will come to know.

Sunday 9 March 2014

The third pages sketch. As you can see, some panels still need backgrounds and in the sixth panel Tendril needs hair. All this will be complete during the next stages. I have also left spaces were my dialog will go, as this is key to making the page look well designed and structured.

Thursday 6 March 2014

Wednesday 5 March 2014

Now I have finilished my storyboards i can get going on the actual comic layouts of my story. Here is the first page, it is only a sketch but it is not rough. This image will be ink and coloured at a later date.

Wednesday 26 February 2014

The image/pannel is done. I was experimenting the other day and found that if I saturate the over all image, it personally looks better to me, but I feel the dull colour plays to the world I am trying to place the viewer in. It dark, cruel and so is the heroine.

The first is the original, second the saturated image.

The inking has been sorted out and I have started to do the colouring.

Image of Tendril inked, really for colouring and then to be fitted in my comic.

This is an update on the piece. Its very close to completion. When discussing the piece with a colleague, he suggested that  I put a high contrast highlight on Tendrils body. I took the advice and saw that it really makes the image pop, making sure Tendril keeps focus.

Saturday 15 February 2014

The perpose of this image is to show a finished, inked coloured and shaded panel. It is not actually complete yet, just to show progress.

Sunday 26 January 2014

Zoomed shot, of his reactions to his crushed hand. When I come back to the image I will focus on his eyes and the black line that fall underneath, these will help amplify his pain .

This image like the others is not complete, but it holds up at the moment. I will come back to this when rough scene is illustrated.

Saturday 25 January 2014

The second image to the Tendril close up smirk.

This is a close up that I will have Tendril give a slight smirk, This is the first of two images, the second will be the same image, bar the smile.
The image still has along way till fully complete.

I have added the eye to the suit. I will animate it opening up when it come to creating the motion comic, still needs a lot of detail but is good enough for me to move on the the next.

I have decided, since I have a lot off high detailed images for my motion comic, I am going to get the basic detail and colour and then move on to the next. This way I will able to get all my images ready quicker. Once i am done i will go through and complete each one. If I save the shading of all the images for the end, I think it will keep a style consistency through out. This whole process will let me concentrate on one aspect of the animation (draw/ink, colouring, shading), rather than dance in between each job.

Both of these images will be finished once main bulk of comic is done.

Friday 24 January 2014

Next image, outline has been done, now to add details through the inking process, including light sources and definition.

Tuesday 21 January 2014

this is the image for my Tendril motion comic for my new project, the coloring has only just started. Background colour just to show the light source.
